Joseph McKimmy
Born and raised in Michigan—the "Great Lake State" from a small town about three hours north of Detroit, the "Motor City." As the youngest of six kids, I developed thick skin, quick wit, and the ability to hide snacks like a pro. When you're the baby of the family, you're either getting picked on or proving you belong. I chose both.
Most of my youth was spent on two wheels in the dirt, which turned into a  lifestyle and eventually, a career. I spent over 25 years in the publishing world art directing automotive and motorcycle titles, accidentally picked up photo and video skills along the way.
Now I’ve made the jump to the advertising and marketing side of the game—where I plan to make my final stand, Mad Max style. And honestly? I’m having a blast.

“Seriously, now?” My first words to my boss during my second week at American Honda when he asked me to “run down to the race team office and ask DeCoster” – “if we could borrow a couple riders for a CR photo shoot next week.” Honda a great place to start, they were growing fast, dominating the industry and we had a fat advertising budget. And if my boss tells me run down to the race team, I get off my ass and do it right away!
My career has always revolved around the motorcycle and automotive industries, either working at OEMs, publishing companies or advertising agencies. The work still inspires me. I’ve helped launch major aftermarket brands, helped OEMs reposition themselves as markets change and found the key to every new campaign starts with a little homework. New projects always begin with asking the right questions and listening to clients tell us about their business goals first before Joe and I formulate a plan and spout off with the next brilliant creative idea.
Let’s not forget, I honed my almost adequate off-road skills riding with the likes of Tom Webb and Karel Kramer when I was publisher of Dirt Rider and Motorcyclist. Well, at least I could see their dust at the top of the next ridgeline as the sun began to set…

A detail oriented graphic designer with a passion for creation and design. Whether it's a logo, social ad, or magazine layout, I love turning ideas into compelling visuals. I'm inspired by color, typography, and the creative aspect that it takes to work as a graphic designer. Outside of work, I’m usually painting or drawing, which I have found has helped develop my skills on the job.
